Odessa High School 1988’s Weblog

The way things are going.

Zane Petty's Facebook profile

I think keeping in touch is done best when it is done naturally.

Right after the reunion, Tabitha, Jimmy, Hollee and I all figured we would try different ways of keeping a class web presence and use which ever one worked out.  To my surprise it was facebook.

A few folks have told me they don’t like using the other things we tried.  I am not sure what we will continue to keep.  This blog is one means of keeping what we want on a single location free of charge.  Unfortunately, I have not put the effort into creating all of the pages we need.  I intend to do that soon.  This is also a great place to put up things that might normally go in a facebook note.  It also allows us all to link stuff we have on other websites.  All of that being said, the action is on facebook.

If you have not opened a facebook account, let me encourage you to do so.  It is a lot of fun.  We have definately continued to banter and catch up there.

When you get set up, join our alumni group.

URL Changes

Posted by Tabitha on January 2, 2009

Hey everyone! I hope your new year is starting out wonderfully and continues that way. I wanted to post an upcoming change to the blog URL. In the next couple of days, I am going to eliminate the web hosting I currently have – this will require a small change in the way you access the blog. Beginning on Saturday, January 3, 2009, you can access the blog by going to www.odessahighschool1988.com – yes, we will still have the domain name. Like I said, this is a minor change – so, it shouldn’t be too confusing.  :)

Christmas Present Irony

Posted by Zane on December 28, 2008

I’m still looking for something to open this package.

If that isn’t enough for you, my son received a game called, “Medal of Honor.”  It is an every man for himself game.

Anything funny about your gifts?

Odessa Christmas Parade

Posted by Zane on December 13, 2008

I hope the out of towners enjoy this.

Tiger really liked it.

There were the normal floats.

Of course, the main reason we were there was to see this float.

Little Zane is number 42.

The Epitome of Cool

Some things never change.   To me, James Brown is still the epitome of cool.

Happy Halloween

Festive Jack-o'-Lantern

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`’Tis some visitor,’ I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more…”

From The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

Just a quick note to wish you and your family a fun, safe Halloween night.  Be generous to those little ones who come tapping at your chamber door.  After all, tis much better to treat than to be tricked!

Here are a few links to some fun Halloween sites online.  If you can think of others, please contribute them in the comments.  Hey, does anyone have a good ghost story?
